Photography Workshop with Cosmos photographer Pascal Maître

Pascal Maitre is born the french town of Buzancais in 1955. After studying psychology, he starts his carrier as photojournalist with the Jeune Afrique press group. In 1984 he joins the Gamma staff. In 1989, he cofounds the Odyssey Images agency. He is currently represented by Cosmos for his press material and Interlinks Image for the corporate assignment. He has worked with many prestigious international magazines: Geo, L’Express, in France, Geo, Stern, Brigitt in Germany, National Geographic, Life, New York Times Magazine, in the USA…

In 2000, he publishes « My Africa », a book which compiles 15 years of his work on this continent, with Aperture in the USA and Geo in Germany. In September 2001, the french version is released by Vents de Sable editions and also a book on « Madagascar, a unique world » as a result of his many trips to the island.

WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Day 1 – Master class / Exchange around the master photographer oeuvre, documentary photography in general, and review of each participants projects/portfolios.
Video interviews making-of for each participant.

Day 2 – Practice / Outside-Inside shooting, group critique, editing, improvements suggestions.

Day 3 – Practice / Outside-Inside shooting, group critique, editing, improvements suggestions.

Day 4 – Project making / Editing and exchange around the best way of presenting one’s work.
Portfolios publication on Eyesinprogress.com. Video interviews making-of for each participant.

Workshop hours: 10h-17h.
Teaching language: French or English depending on audience. Translation will be guaranteed where needed by the course assistant.
